Roundup: Nokia/ Navtec, Telefonica/ Yahoo!, Google and mobile China, Playyoo

October 1, 2007

Nokia is buying Navtec a mapping data provider behind in-car navigation systems and other mapping applications including Google maps. The reported price…. $6 billion!

Telefonica/ O2 has made an agreement to use Yahoo’s oneSearch for their mobile search product. Flickr and Yahoo! Mail are also part of the agreement.

VentureBeat has an interesting post on Google’s strategy in the China mobile market (of which has 516 million subscribers!)

Mobile gaming company Playyoo is about to launch…. in December (following the trend of “launches” that “aren’t launches” and productions services that are actually in “beta”). The Playyoo service has been described as a YouTube of mobile gaming, allowing users to search, rate and discuss free mobile game content.
