Roundup: no more Disney Mobile, iPhone hack reversed, Google buys Zingku

September 28, 2007

Disney Mobile a Mobile Virtual Network Operator has announced it will cease operation at the end of the year. We wrote an article in late May this year titled “Are all US MVNO doomed to fail” since then two of the operators mentioned have indeed shut their doors, Amp’d and now Disney, not a great sign.

Apple has released a firmware update for the iPhone which reverses the unlocking procedures used by some to change mobile operators.

Google has purchased a mobile social networking site called Zingku. In their own words Zingku “integrates your mobile phone with a personalized web site so that you can easily move (zing) things back and forth between the web and and your mobile as well as powerfully connect with friends and optionally their friends”
